  • Violence is a serious public health problem. From infants to the elderly, it affects people in all stages of life. Many more survive violence and suffer physical, mental, and or emotional health problems throughout the rest of their lives. CDC is committed to stopping violence before it begins.

  • The National Child Traumatic Stress Network was established to improve access to care, treatment, and services for traumatized children and adolescents exposed to traumatic events. This section of NCTSN.org provides information about the Network itself.

  • The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is the agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that leads public health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. SAMHSA's mission is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on America's communities.

  • American Academy of Pediatrics—an organization of 64,000 pediatricians committed to the optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.​

  • The American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children is the leading national organization supporting professionals who serve children and families affected by child maltreatment and violence.

  • The National Health Collaborative on Violence and Abuse (NHCVA) is comprised of more than 30 national professional health associations, dedicated to reducing and addressing the health consequences of intimate partner violence (IPV) and abuse.

  • The Institute on Violence, Abuse and Trauma (IVAT) is a 501(c)(3) organization that condemns violence and oppression in all its forms. We stand with all who work for equality and peace. IVAT is a leading international resource and training center, founded in 1984 as FVSAI and headquartered in San Diego, California with a satellite office in Hawai`i and Maryland.

  • The International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect, founded in 1977, is the only multidisciplinary international organization that brings together a worldwide cross-section of committed professionals to work toward the prevention and treatment of child abuse, neglect and exploitation globally.
